OPI Acrylic Dipping Powder: How It Works
Let’s talk about how OPI dipping powder can turn into nail perfection with the following easy-to-follow steps:
- Always prep the nails
- Scoop out enough powder into a clean container to prevent cross contamination
- Stir the powder to blend the pigment
- Brush the base coat onto the nail, leaving a tiny gap at the cuticle (prevents a build-up of product)
- Immediately dip the nail into the OPI dipping powder at a 45 degree angle
- Tap the excess powder from the nail
- Repeat on each nail (making sure to prevent the base coat from drying out before dipping)
- Dust off any remaining product with a clean sanitised brush
- Apply a second coat of the base coat and repeat the steps above on each nail one by one
- Dust off any remaining powder (specifically focusing on the cuticle and edges)
- Apply one thin, even layer of the base coat
- Dip each nail (one by one) into the Clear Colour Set Powder at a 45 degree angle
- Tap off excess powder and remove leftover powder with a clean sanitised brush
- Apply a thick, even layer of the Activator solution, making sure to cap the free edge
- Leave for 4 minutes to dry
- Once hardened, shape the nails and contour around sidewalls and cuticle area
- Buff the nails with a heavy grit
- Smooth the nails with a finer buffer
- Remove any excess dust
- Apply another coat of the thick Activator and let it dry for 4 minutes
- Apply top coat and let it dry for a couple of minutes
- Apply a second coat of the top coat and let it dry fully
